Luckily, we’ve created a step-by-step tutorial on how to draw a rose, summarized in 9 quick and easy steps.
Each guide comes with an illustration that acts as a visual guide as you walk through each step, step by step.
With the help of this guide, you will surely be able to draw a rose, whether you are a beginner or an expert at drawing!
How to Draw A Rose
Step 1
Start drawing an irregular figure of curved lines on the upper left side of the paper.
This forms the leftmost and largest visible petal of the rose.
Step 2
Now we’re just going to repeat what we did in the previous step. This time create a smaller petal shape behind the first petal we drew earlier.
Don’t worry if the petals don’t look identical! The petals do not necessarily have to be uniform. The more irregular the petals are, the more realistic they look!
Step 3
This time we’ll draw the inner petal section.
Draw curved shapes to represent it, as shown in the picture.
Step 4
This step is like combining the previous steps, as we will draw parts of the inner and outer petals.
Draw curved lines to complete the inner petal and part of the outer petal.
Step 5
This time we will finish the section of the giant outer petal.
Draw curved lines to represent it exactly as shown in the picture.
Step 6
To complete the “enveloping” look of the petal, let’s draw another petal. However, since this petal is at the back, only its top would be visible.
To create this petal, draw a curved line that forms the top edges of the petal.
Step 7
Create the final petal by drawing another curved figure on the right side of the rose.
Because this petal is on the outside of the rose, it should be more folded and curved than the other petals.
Step 8
Now we can see that the rose is gradually merging!
In this step, we will add the stem of the rose. Just draw two parallel curved lines just below the rose.
Step 9
In this step, we will add a single leaf on the right side of the rose stem.
Create the leaf by drawing an irregular shape with a rounded edge on the left and a pointed end on the opposite side. This forms the shape of a single leaf.
Next, draw a slightly curved line down the length of the leaf. This creates the center line of the pattern on the sheet.
Then draw more diagonal lines connecting to the center line to complete the different patterns within the leaf.
That’s it – you’ve successfully drawn a rose! Now it’s finally time to add some color to your gorgeous rose!
As you can see in the picture above, we used red for the petals and green for the stem and leaves – a classic color combination for a rose!
Rose petals come in many colors, including red, pink, white, purple, yellow, orange, and many more! You can color the rose in its original colors or use a completely different color. Either way, we’re sure the colors will turn out gorgeous!
How you color the rose is entirely up to you! Have fun playing with colors and see the rose finally come to life!
